Proprietary Trading
Statkraft is one of the most important actors in the European energy market and an important actor internationally. We trade energy in more than 20 countries and are active on 13 energy exchanges. We trade standardized energy products and develop tailor-made hedging strategies. For our customers, we analyze the drivers of power prices, forecast and buy and sell renewable energy in the market.
Our teams trade for the account of Statkraft to provide additional knowledge and revenue streams. Besides power, our traders buy and sell global gas, oil, oil products, metals and dry bulk and analyze cross-commodity influences on the power market.
In the US, our proprietary trading activity is focused on power, natural gas and weather derivatives, with a focus on Eastern US markets. Our trading is driven by a robust fundamental understanding and analysis of the markets and is supported by sophisticated proprietary analytics. We work closely with our European counterparts to develop a global view on the supply and demand dynamics of natural gas and with our renewables team to incorporate the impact those markets have on power markets in our analysis.
